Guardol XT 5W-40 Synthetic
Full-synthetic CK-4 engine oil for cold starts, extended drain intervals, and the kind of duty cycles that punish conventional 15W-40. Worth the premium on critical equipment running long hours.
Megaflow Hydraulic Oils

Powerflow NZ Zinc-Free Hydraulic

Alberta jobsites are punishing. Heavy load, dust ingress on every operation, sustained duty cycles, brutal cold in winter, vibration that breaks down grease structure, hydraulic pressures that test seal compatibility — and you can't afford a lube failure when the equipment is on a critical path.
The Phillips 66 product line we stock is spec-matched to the OEMs that dominate Alberta construction fleets — Caterpillar, Komatsu, John Deere, Volvo, Hitachi, and the heavy-truck brands. Engine oils meet the latest CK-4 and FA-4 specs; hydraulics meet the standard ISO and OEM-specific zinc-free requirements; greases hold up under the impact loads that excavator pins and dozer undercarriages produce.
Cold-Weather Lubrication
In Alberta, cold-start lubrication is non-negotiable. A heavy excavator left on a jobsite at –35°C overnight needs to start clean and have lubricant flowing through the engine and hydraulic system before damage starts. We carry both conventional and synthetic options:
- Guardol XT 5W-40 full-synthetic — the right engine oil for any equipment seeing winter starts and long hours. Pumpability at –40°C; hot-end protection at full operating temperature.
- Synthetic gear oils — 75W-90 and 75W-140 for axles and differentials that need to break loose in deep cold.
- Cold-rated grease — Multiplex Premium and Omniguard hold their structure at temperatures where standard grease shears or hardens.
- Hydraulic fluid viscosity selection — important to match your equipment's low-temperature requirements; we can recommend the right ISO grade for your machine and operating conditions.
Jobsite Delivery — Drums, Totes, and Bulk
Construction lubricant volume varies wildly by project scale. We deliver in whatever format makes sense:
- Drums (205 L) — most common jobsite format. Easy to handle, sized for the lubricant volume of a typical mid-size project.
- Totes (1,000 L IBCs) — for high-volume programs, especially on long-running projects with multiple machines burning the same product. Cost per litre drops noticeably.
- Bulk delivery — into shop or yard tanks for mine sites, large fleet bases, and construction operations with shop infrastructure.
- Pails (16–18 L) — for small applications, top-ups, or specialty products used in lower volume.
Bundled With Fuel and Jobsite Tank Rentals
Construction is one of the cleanest fits for our bundled program. Most jobsites need bulk diesel (often dyed for off-road equipment), DEF for newer SCR-equipped fleets, lubricants for the iron, and a temporary on-site storage tank for the diesel — all of which we deliver, install, refill, and remove on demobilization. One supplier, one phone number, one accountable contact.
For multi-site contractors, we also offer card-lock access for transient operators, per-vehicle and per-machine fuel reporting, and tank-monitoring telemetry that triggers automatic delivery before the site runs out.

- What engine oil should I run in my Caterpillar / Komatsu / John Deere construction equipment?
- For most modern construction-fleet diesel engines, Phillips 66 Guardol Fleet 15W-40 (CK-4) is the right call. For equipment running long hours or in severe cold, step up to Guardol XT 5W-40 full-synthetic for cold-start performance and extended drain intervals. We can confirm OEM spec match against your specific make/model — send us the equipment list.
- Do you carry zinc-free hydraulic fluid?
- Yes. Phillips 66 Powerflow NZ is a zinc-free anti-wear hydraulic fluid for newer equipment with seals and pumps that require zinc-free formulations. Some OEMs spec this — check your equipment manual. Standard zinc-additive hydraulic oils (Megaflow line) are also available in all common ISO grades.
- What's the best grease for excavator pins and bushings?
- Multiplex 220 #2 lithium-complex EP grease is the workhorse — extreme-pressure protection, good water resistance, and reliable performance at the load and impact levels that excavator pins see. For high-temperature wheel bearings on haul trucks or other severe-duty applications, step up to Omniguard XD5 #2 synthetic grease.
- Do you deliver lubricants to jobsites or only to shops?
- Both. We deliver drums, totes, pails, and bulk to active jobsites alongside fuel deliveries — same trip when the schedule lines up. We also stock and rent jobsite storage tanks if you need an on-site fuel solution to go with the lubricant program.
- How do you handle remote or temporary jobsites?
- Remote and temporary jobsites are core to what we do — most construction work in Alberta is. We deliver to active sites, install temporary fuel storage tanks that move with the project, and remove tanks when you demobilize. Card-lock access is also available for transient operators.
- Can I get bulk lubricant delivery in addition to fuel?
- Yes — for mine sites, large fleet bases, and construction operations with shop infrastructure, we deliver engine oil and hydraulic fluid in bulk into shop tanks alongside our fuel runs. Volumes typically need to cross several thousand litres per product per year before bulk hits the right cost-per-litre vs. totes.
- What's the difference between CK-4 and FA-4 engine oils?
- CK-4 is the latest backwards-compatible heavy-duty diesel engine oil category — works in any modern HDD engine. FA-4 is a lower-viscosity (typically 5W-30) category for newer engines specifically designed for it; not backwards-compatible with older engines. Most Alberta construction fleets run CK-4 (Guardol Fleet or Guardol XT). Check your engine manual.
- Do you supply DEF for SCR-equipped construction equipment?
- Yes. Bulk DEF (diesel exhaust fluid) is part of our standard delivery program. We supply DEF in totes, drums, and bulk into DEF-compatible tanks (stainless or polymer) on jobsites or in shops. Often shipped alongside diesel runs.
